Trust and safety
Stay safe while using Subhaven.
Use this checklist when you are browsing, posting, or messaging about a sublease.
Before you commit
- Keep early conversations on Subhaven so there is a clear record of what was shared.
- Verify the lister's identity and their right to sublet before sending money or documents.
- Ask for exact dates, monthly rent, utilities, deposit terms, and any building rules in writing.
- Never wire money, pay with gift cards, or use unusual payment methods because of pressure or urgency.
- If something feels off, report the listing and contact support before moving forward.
Warning signs
- The price is far below similar listings without a believable reason.
- The lister refuses to answer basic questions about the property, lease, or dates.
- You are asked to move the conversation off-platform immediately.
- The person pressures you to pay a deposit before verification or a walkthrough.
- Photos, address details, or lease terms seem inconsistent.
What to verify with every sublease
Lease and approval

Money and deposits
Understand what is refundable, what utilities are included, and when any payment is due.
Move-in details
Get exact start and end dates, keys or access details, furnishing status, and house rules.
Property reality
